Can i dye natuarally black hair brown with Revlon Colorsilk?

My hair is naturally black and i want to dye it brown using revlon Colorsilk permanent hair color. on the box it has the current hair colors and the results you will get. black is one of the ';current' hair colors, but i'm not sure if it will work because i thought you have to bleach black hair in order to make it lighter. is it possible to use hair dye on black hair?Can i dye natuarally black hair brown with Revlon Colorsilk?
